In 2017, I started a voluntary initiative in my “spare” time called Bitsa Bikes. Adult bikes and bike bits are collected, assessed, lubricated, adjusted and assembled to make roadworthy and reliable bikes. In 2017, I started a voluntary initiative in my “spare” time called Bitsa Bikes. Adult bikes and bike bits are collected, assessed, lubricated, adjusted and assembled to make roadworthy and reliable bikes. These are then distributed by homeless services in Perth, Western Australia, including St Bartholomew’s House, Croft Inc, RUAH, 50 Lives 50 Homes Perth, UnitingCare West, Homeless Healthcare, Salvation Army and Outcare. Some bikes are given to individuals, some are used as pool bikes. All this is done in my home shed. I am currently planning to expand Bitsa Bikes by teaching participants at homeless services how to fix and maintain bikes.
